Hairspray is based upon the hilarious 1988 film by John Waters this is the musical tale of Baltimore's Tracy Turnblad - a big girl with big hair and a big heart who loves to dance.
It's 1962 - the '50s are out and change is in the air. Tracy Turnblad only has one passion -to dance - and she wins a spot on the local TV dance program, "The Corny Collins Show". Overnight she is transformed from an outsider into a teen celebrity. But can a Tracy upstage the program's reigning princess, win the heart of heartthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a television show without denting her 'do? Only in Hairspray! Welcome to the '60s!

The running time of Hairspray is approximately 2 hours 40 minutes, with a 15 minute intermission.
Michael Ball will be on holiday and will not be appearing Hairspray in performances from 22 December 2007 to 7 January 2008.
